Upside Caramel Apple Tarts
These upside down caramel apple tarts are a quick and delicious alternative to an apple pie. I mean don’t get me wrong apple pie is that girl, but sometimes I don’t have the time or patience to spare. Not to mention the homemade caramel sauce on top take this simple dessert to another level.
This dessert comes together with a few simple ingredients. No need to peel and chop a bag of apples or fight with a homemade puff pastry crust.
Now you may ask why bake these upside down? It’s fun and different! Not to mention the pastry gets a great rise by not being weighed down with any filling.
Can these be eaten without caramel sauce? Yes, but I would consider that not only a disservice to your tastebuds but kind of a crime. If you do not have time or patience to make caramel sauce then a good quality store-bought will be just as good. :)

Notes
*If you prefer to use homemade puff pastry you are more than welcome. I usually find that I have a roll of pre-made pastry on hand.
**I like the vegan puff pastry from the brand Aussie Bakery. You can find it at Whole Foods.
***Whatever, caramel sauce you like to use is your choice. Again, I usually have homemade on hand.
